Avila Carmelite Centre

The new Avila centre opened in late November 2006. The focus in the new centre is on day retreats and courses. There is accommodation for self-catering retreats with eight en-suite rooms and two hermitages. Spiritual accompaniment is available from community members.

Reading St Teresa of Avila's Foundations  

The Carmelite Community at Avila invites you to join us in reading St Teresa of Avila’s “Foundations”

Second Tuesday of each month from November 2011 to May 2012.  7.30 p.m. – 9.00 p.m.

Attendance is free.

 
Participants will require the book of the Foundations.  This can be bought from Catholic bookshops or online.
The willingness to share one’s reflections on the book is essential for participation.

Avila is also home to two Secular Order groups and a thriving Charismatic Prayer Meeting. The Prayer Meeting has been in existence since the 70s and attracts a large number of people for its Wednesday night (8.00 p.m.) meeting. The Alzheimer Café, an international concept, is being launched in Ireland.

The Alzheimer Café is a safe and relaxed place where people with dementia, their families and health and social care professionals come together for a unique blend of education and support. It is a forum where people can exchange experiences and talk about dementia.

The Alzheimer Cafe is held on the second Thursday of every month
